Early Life/Family

Vincent Waller was fifteen when he received his first job drawing caricatures at Six Flags Over Texas. They practiced a formulaic type of drawing that captured half of the face which made it easier to capture a likeness of the subject being drawn, but the subject wasn’t actually a true caricature.

Vincent worked at Six Flags Over Texas for two seasons, making only a fifth of $4.95, which was the charge there per caricature. It had occurred to Vincent that he could make much more money if he were working on his own.

Vincent Waller spent a few years in New Orleans where he continued drawing caricatures on Bourbon street in front of a bar called “The Paddock Lounge.”

While working at Six Flags, Vincent had been given his first big break through a man he met, Bob Camp. Bob Camp was hired doing movie parodies for a Crazy magazine. Bob Camp had introduced Vincent to his editor Larry Hanna who was also editing and writing several other titles for Marvel. Hanna was kind enough to critique the drawing that Vincent had sent him. Hanna gave notes to Vincent about construction, layout and storyboard

I’ve been watching Ren and Stimpy as I grew up, and I’ve always enjoyed the wonderfully grotesque sequence of images that made the show so unique.
